Homecoming Weekend

Trevor was out of town last weekend so I decided to enjoy the weekend with the girls, undeterred.  Friday night we went to our high school's homecoming game with the Willards.  I know I've written before about how big football is in Texas.  Homecoming did not disappoint.

Dana brought ring pops for the kids which kept them very busy for the whole first half.
Everyone was wearing one of these ginormous "mum" pins.  Seriously, huge.  Ribbons to the ankles huge.  I took a few sly camera phone pictures that all turned out way blurry, but you can at least see the Texas size/length on these babies.  I have no idea what they mean, or what it is for other than that they come out for homecoming.    Check these out:
This was on a 10-year old girl

One of the longer ones we saw.  Had it been much longer she may have tripped on it!

This is a cute girl in our ward that I stopped to take her picture.  Still blurry, but you can see the ribbons a bit better.

The half-time entertainment was also Texas-sized.  The Round Rock High School band etc. played.  It was seriously amazing.  Quite possibly better and larger than those of MANY colleges.
Check out the 14-piece marimba section.  Oh, and look at that jumbo-tron for instant replays.
Here is a little video.  I am not kidding, the music was incredible.

Are those girls Texas, or what?!?

After half time our little Eagles come running out of the blow up eagle head.

And look at what the AWAY team brought with them!!  Their fire-breathing dragon to run out of.  Wow.  What else can be said about that.

The stadium is amazing.  This is the tunnel under the stands where all of the concessions and paraphernalia is sold.

Because I was flying solo, I had to keep VA on my shoulders when we walked around and she had fun with my hair.
Super fun night.  Glad I had my new little backpack purse so that I could hold S and V's purses for them.  The only thing missing was our Daddy.

Katherine,
Thank you so much for your comment on my blog regarding going back to work. I very nearly emailed prior to my return to work for some words of wisdom from a super mom who had been there, done that.
p.s. I love your TWO purses in the last photo of this post :)

I went under the bleachers at skyline high school here in Utah once--bad idea. Nothing like the Texas tunnels.
