I have been itching to go back during operating hours. Today Dana and I took our kids to the Austin Children's Museum and were in the area so we stopped.
I LOVE wooden toys. I can't resist them. I look for them them all the time. I love playing with them. I have many. I want more.
That said, imagine my joy when we walked into this:
Yes, you are seeing that right. This is a REAL toymaker's shop with a window to watch him work. Rootin' Ridge Toymakers has been making toys in this shop for 35 years and he is a real-life Gepetto. (Gray hair, mustache and all!!) The children had fun and Dana and I did too. I can't wait to go back.
I couldn't leave empty-handed, so I bought this beautiful Texas puzzle, all hand-made right there, just like in the olden-days. Seriously, I can't wait to go back.
The Children's Museum was awesome too. Virginia had so much fun on this little toy. She stayed there for 30 minutes going around and around. Stairs are such a novelty for children who have never lived in a home that has them.

I want to go back too! I told Casey about the shop and he got all excited.
We had a totally fun day. It was great to have someone else to chat with while the kids played :)

I love that TX puzzle! But I really can't believe you didn't leave with more. Really! What will power! I, too, would love to buy just about everything inside.
