Every day for the next year will be full of firsts and lasts for us. Firsts for Savannah and lasts as we prepare to leave our home here in Virginia to move back West after dental school. We've already seen our last fireflies and we are tending our last garden and enjoying our last summer under our enormous oak trees. At the same time, we are loving Savannah's firsts; smiles, giggles, coos, etc.

Today, Savannah's first was a trip to the beach. (Living in a coastal state is really great, except for during hurricane season. :)) We lounged about on the beach all day and napped to the sound of the crashing waves. She is learning quickly how to enjoy the finer points of life. We spent the day under the umbrella with a quick dip of the toes in the water at the end. I sure hope it wasn't also a last.

It looks beautiful there! I have only been to one east coast beach and that was amidst a ton of siteseeing and we stayed for a whole 2 minutes (up in Kennebunkport Maine). Looks lovely to sit under the umbrella on a sunny summer day and nap near the water on the sandy ground. Fun.
I LOVE her floppy hat!
