I miss her every minute

Nearly one week down and it isn't really getting much easier to leave Savvy every morning. But I am getting used to not having her with me all of the time. At first I would get into something at work and then totally startle myself thinking, "Oh no, where is the baby?!" I have a new appreciation for working mothers. It is hard! (Not that mothering in general is not hard.) Anyway, she has been so good for the babysitters. They love her and so do their kids. One of the sitters has a little boy who cries and cries when Savvy has to go down for her naps. The mom has to keep a close eye on him because he tries to sneak in to play with Savvy while she is napping. They are so great. It does make it easier to know that she is in such incredibly good hands. She is growing and changing so much.
We went to the doctor last week. 13 lbs. 2 oz. and 24 inches long. Yes, that's a whopping 5 lb. weight gain in 2 months. Where did this child come from? Everyone in my family has little petite babies that hover in the lower (mostly single) digits of the growth charts. How did I get one in the 90's? She got her first series of shots. She had what my brother Dave lovingly refers to as a purple-faced meltdown. She was so offended that someone would hurt her. Then came the drama. Any time I even brushed a blanket by her leg she cried all over again. At first I worried that she was really hurting badly, but then when she didn't even acknowledge me ripping the bandaids off while we were having fun in the bathtub that night, I knew that it was mostly just wounded pride. Oh boy. Here we go.
